Put in zip-loc bag. Put in sink with warm (not hot) water. Turn every 10 minutes. Voila, thawed in no time. Cook right away. Enjoy. Thank you very much.

As an addition to this, if you have a large enough bowl/pot for a chicken, it will thaw even faster if the entire bird is submerged in warm water. Just leave your faucet on slightly to keep water in the pot from cooling too much.

Slap it to your exhaust manifold and go for a drive.

You're not supposed to take it out into room temperature to thaw... Warm chicken is a bacteria magnet. Put it in a ZipLoc then put it in your refrigerator to thaw overnight... And it should be ready by lunch. ETA: Yeah... You can thaw it in room temperature but like what Desertdog said, you'll have to cook it right away.

You mean cold water... Warm water will make bacteria grow on the chicken.

Hence, the "cook right away" sentence. Been doing it a long time and have not got sick yet.

No, I mean warm water. You want it to thaw quickly. They you cook right away. No more bacteria than letting it sit in a refrigerator for 24 hours.

Most people's fridges are set for 36-40 F. I keep mine one to two degrees above freezing F. Freezer set to -10 F.

Yeah... My refrigerator is set for a pretty low temperature to keep the cheeses and milk from going bad. Brie cheese is an exception... I fucking love eating it at room temperature... Crusty skin but warm and cream inside!!! God damn woman I want some now...
